From 1 October 2000 to 30 September 2001 the WEA received 715 applications for consent to export wheat in bulk, containers and/ or bags. Of these, 82 percent were approved by the WEA. The numbers approved and rejected are shown in the following table:

Of the 583 approved applications, exporters were granted permission to ship tonnages to the markets listed in Actual Exports. Although consents were granted to the end of September for approximately 1.304 million tonnes, WEA research indicates that around 538,400 tonnes were shipped in containers and/ or bags in the period.
The following table, for the period 1 October 2000 to 30 September 2001, shows:
- the total number of applications for consent to export wheat received by the WEA by tonnage;
- the total number of these applications approved by the WEA by tonnage; and
- the number of these applications supported/not supported by AWB (I) Ltd by tonnage.
