Our Organisation

WEA consists of a Chair and up to five Members, appointed by the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. Members are appointed on a part-time basis to 30 September 2011. Appointments must not exceed five years, however members are eligible for re-appointment.

Members are appointed by the Minister for their substantial experience and knowledge and significant standing in at least one of the following fields:

• International trade

• International marketing

• Commodity trading

• Foreign exchange trading

• Finance

• Regulation

• Public policy

• Business

• Law

• Grain production

• Grain handling.

The Members are assisted by a Secretariat which consists of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and approximately 12 staff.  All employees of WEA are engaged under the Public Service Act 1999.
