The agency is to comply with a range of legislation and mandatory requirements including the Wheat Export Marketing Act 2008, the Finance Management and Accountability Act 1997 and the Public Service Act 1999. These pose a number of external reporting obligations, including the Portfolio Budget Statement, Annual Report and agency contracts.

In addition, the agency is to report to the portfolio minister on important administrative matters that could impact on the minister's policy responsibility.
