Wheat Exports

Wheat exports are categorised into non-bulk and bulk exports.

Non-bulk wheat is categorised as wheat exported in:
             (a) a bag; or
             (b) a container;
that is capable of holding 50 tonnes of wheat or less.

All other exports are bulk wheat exports.

Exporting bulk wheat

The Wheat Export Marketing Act 2008 regulates the export of bulk wheat.

From 1 July 2008 exporters wanting to export bulk wheat from Australia must be accredited by Wheat Exports Australia (WEA).

Exporters are accredited by WEA under the Wheat Export Accreditation Scheme (Bulk Scheme). To find out more about the Bulk Scheme click here.

Exporting non-bulk wheat

As of 1 July 2008 with the commencement of the Wheat Export Marketing Act 2008, exporters are able to export non-bulk wheat from Australia without any restrictions other than meeting existing Customs and AQIS phytosanitary requirements.

Wheat Export Charge

All exporters of wheat must pay the Wheat Export Charge (WEC) for wheat that is produced in and exported from Australia. To find out more click here.
